My name is Jeff Ronan. I am an actor. And I'm not going to lie to you. This journal will not stop world hunger. It will not cure Count Choculitis. It will not bring Arrested Development back nor will it play a major hand in getting Christopher Walken elected as President. Why then, you may ask, should I read this journal, if it can not even meet these basic criteria that all journals should be able to accomplish?
Simple. You shouldn't. It's my freakin' journal. If you've got a problem with it, go find a journal about rainbows and happiness to "LOL" about. This journal isn't even necessarily an instrument for others to gain a deeper insight into my soul or what have you. There is a reason my username is milk_and_vodka, and it isn't because that's my drink of choice, (shameless plug warning) nor is it just because it's a line in the movie Brick, which everyone should go see right now.
Milk is opaque. Vodka is transparent. I am equal parts of each, half of me being open to the world and able to be read like a book, the other half always shielded, never viewed. It's who I am, and it is a fitting name.
I must admit that this whole thing is kind of weird to me. I always thought that if I were going to write my thoughts in a journal, it wouldn't be online for everyone to see. It would stay in a locked box under my bed with a picture of Christopher Walken on the cover giving his "evil eye" to scare off anyone who dares try to read it. So why post my private thoughts online then? Why allow myself to indulge in the hypocrisy of supposedly baring my true "thoughts" and "feelings" while remaining shielded? Well, why not? It'll be good to sort out my stories, poems, favorite movies, etc in an easy, manageable place. I can come here to look at it on my time, and I suppose if anyone else has the time in their life to read a little bit of mine, than it means that I've brought joy, or at the very least mindless diversion to someone. Or no one. Or whatever. Enjoy.
